Best Waterfront Spots on the Eastside to Watch the Blue Angels

Blue Angels jets flying in formation over Lake Washington near the Eastside

Quick answer: Some of the best Eastside spots to watch the Blue Angels are Downtown Kirkland's waterfront park and marina, Meydenbauer Bay Park in Bellevue, and Lake Sammamish by boat. Downtown Bellevue high-rise balconies also offer a front-row seat above the crowds. The Blue Angels fly practice runs Thursday, July 30, 2026, with main Seafair Air Show performances Friday, July 31 through Sunday, August 2.

Every summer, the roar of Navy jets rolls across Lake Washington and reminds everyone on the Eastside why waterfront living is such a singular thing. You don't have to fight downtown Seattle traffic or claim a patch of grass at Genesee Park at sunrise to get a great view of the Blue Angels — some of the best seats in the region are right here, on our side of the lake. Here are my favorite spots, built from years of watching this show from the water myself.

Downtown Kirkland's Waterfront Park & Marina

My personal favorite way to spend Blue Angels weekend starts with ice cream. I'll grab a scoop from the Ben & Jerry's on Lake Street, then make the short walk down toward the marina as the jets start their first pass overhead. There's something great about looking straight up between bites of ice cream and watching six Super Hornets scream past in tight formation, then continuing on to grab a spot right at the water's edge by the park.

Kirkland's waterfront park gives you an open, unobstructed view of the sky over the lake, plus the marina itself as a backdrop — boats bobbing at the docks, the Cascades in the distance, and jets thundering low overhead. It's an easy walk from most of Downtown Kirkland, which makes it one of the more low-stress viewing spots on the Eastside; no long drive, no scramble for parking at the last minute.

If watching the show from your own neighborhood park sounds appealing every summer, it's worth a look at what's currently available on Kirkland's waterfront market.

Meydenbauer Bay, Bellevue

Meydenbauer Bay Park is another fantastic spot, and one I regularly recommend to clients. The bay's shape creates a natural amphitheater over the water, so you get a fantastic view of the jets banking and maneuvering right over the surface of the lake. It's a shorter, quieter alternative to the bigger crowds on the Seattle side, with plenty of open lawn and shoreline to spread out.

For anyone weighing what a Bellevue waterfront property is really worth beyond the price tag, moments like this are part of the answer. Take a look at the current Bellevue waterfront listings to see what's available.

A Front-Row Seat I'll Never Forget

A few years back, I was holding an open house for a condominium at Bellevue Towers, right in the heart of downtown Bellevue, when the Blue Angels happened to fly over that same weekend. Every group that walked through stepped straight out onto the balcony, and we all got a front-row seat as the jets roared directly over downtown Bellevue. It was loud, it was thrilling, and it's one of those moments that reminds you what a high-rise view in this city can actually deliver — not just on Blue Angels weekend, but every day.

Lake Sammamish by Boat

My absolute favorite way to watch, though, is from a boat on Lake Sammamish. There's nothing quite like being out on the water as the jets zip by low and fast, pulling off rolls and tight turns right above you. It's a completely different experience than watching from shore — closer, louder, and honestly a little more thrilling every time.

Lake Sammamish waterfront ownership means this kind of access is part of everyday life, not just a once-a-year event. See what's currently on the market on Lake Sammamish's waterfront page.

More Than One Weekend a Year

Blue Angels weekend is a fun excuse to get out on the water, but it's really just a preview of what waterfront and high-rise living on the Eastside offers all summer long — the docks, the views, the ability to step outside and be part of it.
