Liberty Road Foundation Golf Tournament: A Morning at Newcastle Golf & Country Club
⛳ Community & Philanthropy
This week I had the privilege of joining the Liberty Road Foundation's annual golf tournament at Newcastle Golf & Country Club — a morning of good company, a beautiful course, and a cause I believe in deeply.
A Cause Worth Showing Up For
Liberty Road Foundation takes a different approach than most charitable organizations I've worked with. Rather than simply asking businesses to write a check, they connect business teams' time and specific expertise directly with local nonprofits serving at-risk youth and families facing urban poverty across Seattle, Tacoma, and the greater Puget Sound region. Their premise is simple and, I think, exactly right: the people facing these challenges need more than money — they need people who show up. That philosophy resonates with how I try to show up in this community, whether that's through my work with Northwest University's Board of Trustees, coaching youth soccer, or mornings like this one on the golf course.
Barry Horn addresses the room, with Guild Mortgage Company recognized as the tournament's master sponsor.
On the Course
Newcastle Golf & Country Club is one of the Eastside's genuine architectural gems, and it made for a spectacular backdrop for the day. Between rounds, I had the chance to reconnect with familiar faces and meet a few new ones — including a great morning on the course with Kurt Onwens.
Rounding out the foursome for a few holes made for one of those mornings that reminds you why community involvement matters as much as it does — good conversation, a shared cause, and a course most of us would happily play any day of the week.
A great group, a great cause, and a round to remember.
Why This Matters to Me
After 25+ years serving Eastside families through some of the biggest transitions of their lives, I've come to believe real estate is ultimately a community business. The relationships that matter most to me aren't transactional — they're the ones built through moments like this, showing up for causes that make this region better for everyone in it, not just the clients I work with directly. If you'd like to learn more about Liberty Road Foundation or get your own team involved, I'd encourage you to visit libertyroadfoundation.org.
Let's Connect — On or Off the Course
